Nick Aston, who graduated from BCOM in October with a Masters in Osteopathy, was presented one of the Rising Star Awards by the Institute of Osteopathy (iO) at the iO Conference 2015 Awards Ceremony in November.
Nick was nominated by BCOM’s Principal, Dr Kerstin Rolfe, and Head of Osteopathy Mr Manoj Mehta.
In the nominating statement Mr Mehta said:
“Mr Aston is registered as blind and has significant disabilities that affect his normal daily activities. Mr Aston's remarkable determination and perseverance enabled him to successfully complete a demanding 4-year full-time course and graduate with a Master's in Osteopathy degree. Mr Aston is an inspiration to both able and disabled osteopathic students and practitioners.”
The ceremony took place at the Runnymede-on-Thames hotel. On receiving the award Nick said: “It was a real privilege to be able to attend and meet and network with so many other osteopaths.”
