BCOM’s Head of Anatomy, Dr Arjmand Saaid, presented a paper at the 6th International Symposium of Clinical and Applied Anatomy in Rijeka, Croatia on 26th - 29th June 2014.
The paper is a result of detailed joint dissection by BCOM teaching staff and students, and was carried out in collaboration with University College London (UCL) dissection laboratories. The subject of the study was Extensive Bilateral Renal Variation, and the paper was produced using a BCOM cadaver during a routine anatomy class dissection as part of the Masters in Osteopathy (M.Ost) degree course. In the findings of the study a total of 13 variations were identified.
Dr Saaid says: “BCOM is committed to the highest standard of anatomy education, supported by high quality resources such as active dissection which is performed by the Anatomy Department and students. Our generous dissection sessions are covered during the first and second years of the M.Ost course.”
Dr Saaid’s paper has been accepted for publication in clinical journals. The Anatomy Department at BCOM has previously presented several papers on dissection to European and international clinical and scientific meetings.
