VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR RESEARCH STUDY
Physiological changes during Marathon training and racing.
Are you aged 20-80yrs, London based and aiming to run in the London Marathon 2008, and have not trained for or run a marathon before?
If so, we would appreciate your help with a research project and at the same time we will provide you with detailed information about your own body!
The measurements we are taking for our research enable us to find out about your:
bone health
body composition
muscle strength
range of movement
hydration (of muscle and whole body),
and how these change during training and after the race.
All techniques we use are safe and non-invasive.
You would usually be required to attend the college on 4 occasions. We attend the Marathon itself to carry out two quick & simple measurements as you finish the race.
If you wish, results of your bone scan can be sent to your gp anwe can also provide you with follow-up consultations.
Volunteers recruited are offered the opportunity to receive three free massage sessions at BCOM at anytime during the study period and for up to one month after the race. travel expenses are paid and lunches provided on study days.
BCOM is based at 120 Finchley Road, London NW3 5HR (opposite Finchley Road tube station)
