Clinical Education Coordinator – £21,714 to £22,857 per annum (£38K to £40K FTE)

As part of the BCNO Group’s continuous improvement plans, we have determined that we need a Clinical Education Coordinator to act as the conduit between students, patients and Clinic Tutors.

The Coordinator will have full operational management responsibility of clinic from both a clinical and educational perspective.   You’ll have full support from the Head of Clinic but equally complete autonomy to manage the clinic to ensure patient safety, effective student learning and maximise revenue.

While you do not need to be a registered Osteopath, we would prefer our Coordinator to be a registered healthcare professional – the nature of this role is such that having an understanding of operating within regulated professional standards will help you immensely.

You will be someone who can combine clinical understanding with management prowess.   Collaboration will be just as important to you as it is to us.   After all ‘no (wo)man is an island’ and we want you to be someone who naturally works well with others and has the ability to encourage and challenge at the right moment.

In short, we are looking for someone pretty special!    If this is you, please do get in touch.

The closing date for applications is 19th May 2022 and these can be submitted via email to our Head of HR, Helen Jones (helenjones@eso.ac.uk).   A link to both the application form and job description are below.

Clinic Tutors

Location: Kent
Salary: Competitive rates
Contract: 12 months fixed term

Running for 40 years and with over 20,000 treatments each year, our Kent Teaching Clinic has a pretty enviable reputation as the place to visit for excellent osteopathic care.

Our Clinic Tutors manage patient and student interactions all the while ensuring that exemplary care is at the heart of everything they do. Care for the patient inclusive of treatment and advice given to every patient meets the high standards of professionalism, expertise and quality expected from a registered osteopath. And care for the student – it matters a great deal to us that our students have the best possible learning experience in Clinic with plenty of opportunities to apply and hone the wide variety of skills and knowledge they have learned. You must be open to questions and be willing to accept the broad spectrum of treatment approaches and opinions, integrating with other members of faculty.

To join the team, you will be a registered osteopath with a genuine desire to teach and encourage the next generation of osteopaths. You will effortlessly support and guide a student’s learning, and will remember what it felt like to be an osteopathic student with that frisson of almost imperceptible nervous excitement you felt at finally being able to put all those study hours into practice under the calm, watchful gaze of a Clinic Tutor.

We need to fill the following vacancies:
Monday: morning, afternoon and evening sessions
Tuesday: afternoon session
Thursday: afternoon and evening sessions

If you can’t commit to the above but still like the sound of us then you can always consider joining our team of Standby Tutors. Either way, please take a look at the job description and send your application form in to Helen Jones, Head of HR (helenjones@eso.ac.uk).

We are looking forward to meeting you!

Clinic Tutors (Standby) – £82.10 per session

The BCNO Group, the newly merged organisation comprising The European School of Osteopathy in Kent and The British College of Osteopathic Medicine in London, is looking to increase its bank of experienced Standby Tutors for its Kent teaching clinic.

The clinic, based in Maidstone, sees over 16,000 patients each year which provides valuable opportunity for our students to undertake their requisite clinical hours. There are three sessions (am, pm and eve) which you might be asked to work and our opening hours are between 9.00am to 8.30pm Monday to Thursday, and to 5.45pm each Friday.

As a Standby Tutor you need to be a registered osteopath with at least 3 years of osteopathic practice experience coupled with the ability to positively teach and encourage the students you will supervise. If you have previous experience in an osteopathic educational setting then even better. You will be a positive and motivated person with a desire to support the next generation of osteopaths.

The nature of the role is such that we will call on you when there’s a gap to be filled – usually we have some notice of this because it will be a holiday booking but sometimes requests can be short notice. That said, we don’t expect you to drop everything! But we do need people who have some free time.

Interested? In the first instance, please email Helen Jones (Head of HR) on helenjones@eso.ac.uk for a copy of the job description and an application form. If successful at interview, then we will ask you to observe during 3 sessions at clinic so you can see how you feel about us and vice versa!
