BCOM graduates have research paper published

Congratulations to BCOM graduates Bethany Elliott, Nicholas Hookway and Brit Tate who have had their research paper ‘Does passive hip stiffness or range of motion correlate with spinal curvature and posture during quiet standing?’ published by Science Direct.

The main findings of this research with 20 participants was that:

• Spinal curvature does not correlate with hip joint passive stiffness.
• Joint range of motion does not correlate with maximum joint stiffness.
• There are few consistent correlations between standing posture and hip stiffness.
• Prediction of hip joint stiffness from postural assessment cannot be supported.
