About BCOM

BCOM has an international reputation for academic and research excellence

Diane Finlayson

02 October 1949 to 25 June 2019

Diane was the BCOM Librarian from 2007 until her retirement in 2014. She had a long career in health libraries having previously worked for Guys and St Thomas’s and NHS Direct before joining BCOM. She held a great affection for her time at BCOM, and used to visit us regularly.

Since her retirement she indulged in her many interests and hobbies, such as cinema, theatre and folk music. She was a perpetual scholar and used to attend regular study days about Renaissance theatre and history, which she studied at the University of Hull. She went on many cruises and rail journeys around Europe, visiting, amongst other places, Germany, France, Norway and Iceland. Diane was a devout Christian and was very involved in the life of her local church and choir.

Diane passed away peacefully on the afternoon of 25th June 2019 at the Royal Marsden Hospital in Surrey, after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer earlier this year. As a friend of the College she will be very greatly missed.

I would like to thank Caroline for the biography.

Dr Kerstin Rolfe
