Mr Denis Kiely 1925 – 2018

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mr Denis Kiely, Dean Emeritus at BCOM.

Mr Kiely was associated with the British College of Osteopathic Medicine (formerly the British College of Naturopathy and Osteopathy, BCNO) since the College moved to Frazer House, Netherhall Gardens in 1953. He was acquainted with Stanley Lief, BCOM’s founder, and graduated in 1957. Mr Kiely subsequently became involved with lecturing at the college and eventually became Dean.

He continued to be actively involved with the college as Dean Emeritus and as a member of the Board of Governors. Mr Kiely’s valuable contribution and commitment to the college spanned over 60 years and he is fondly remembered by all those who knew him.

Mr Leon Chaitow, President of the BCOM Alumni Association said: “Denis was always an inspiration (initially a robust young man and more recently, a robust older man, yet intellectually sharp) in terms of his enthusiasm, even in later life, despite his 90+ years of age. Students and graduates should hold Denis as a role-model, and this is where his true legacy lives on; in the many whom he has taught and inspired.”

He will be sadly missed by staff, students and alumni at BCOM.
