STUDENTS: Registering to Vote deadline 26th November 2019

Students: As you will have seen in the news, a General Election has been called, pending Royal Assent, and will take place on Thursday 12 December 2019.

If you are not already registered either at home or at your term time, to vote you need to register. Registering to vote is easy, takes about five minutes and the deadline is Tuesday 26 November to register.

You can apply for a postal vote but do bear in mind that you will need to apply in advance and have posted your ballot paper back so it arrives by the close of the poll on the day of the General Election

To be eligible to cast your vote in a UK General Election you must be:

·        registered to vote

·        aged 18 or over on polling day

·        a British, Irish or qualifying Commonwealth citizen

·        resident at an address in the UK, or be a British citizen living abroad who has been registered to vote in the UK in the last 15 years

·        not be legally excluded from voting

If you have any queries, please ask a member of Registry staff for help.
